A good place for a recovery backup has to do more than keep it out of sight. It must also fit a recovery plan you understand and can maintain. Start with those two needs before choosing an object or a location.

The words in a wallet backup can restore access when the original device is unavailable. Treat them as sensitive information, rather than an accessory to pack alongside the wallet. Ledger explains this distinction in its recovery-phrase guide, linked below.
Store the hardware wallet and its recovery backup in separate places. That reduces the chance of losing both with one misplaced object. Two compartments in the same container are still one location; two locations in the same room may still share the same environmental risks.
Paper, a purpose-made metal backup and a storage container each have different jobs. Trezor recommends assessing environmental damage as well as unwanted access. Read the documented limits of the exact medium you choose; a metal finish or a heavy object is not evidence of fire or water resistance.
Think about the space as it is actually used. Is the shelf near a radiator? Could a household reorganisation move the object? Is the location accessible to you when you need it? These ordinary questions are more useful than searching for a supposedly perfect hiding place.
Trezor's backup guidance advises against digital copies, including photographs, and against sharing the words with support. Use the manufacturer's official instructions for your backup format. Do not send a picture to a shop to ask whether it fits a container; a blank example and its dimensions are enough.
Review the practical arrangement when you move home or change your storage. Keep the process understandable to your future self without displaying the secret. If you need a more complex recovery or inheritance arrangement, learn its requirements before changing the backup you already use.
Luke is a handmade design object with a hidden compartment. It has the familiar shape of a speaker, without audio or electronics. Its purpose is everyday discretion and considered storage; it is not a certified safe and offers no guaranteed protection against discovery, theft, fire or water.
The usable interior measures 48 × 126 × 17 mm: width, height and depth. The partly cylindrical space is wider in the centre. Check your chosen medium against those dimensions and allow for any insert; compatibility with a particular backup plate should never be assumed. Choose one role for Luke and keep the device and recovery backup apart.
A thoughtful arrangement should be easy to describe without revealing the backup itself. Use these questions to review the decision:
